Customize Your Dashboard
Your dashboard shows you – at a glance – the information that is most important to you across projects, teams, and workspaces. You may use your dashboard as your primary place to work in Rally where you make updates, get status, and view charts.
Your dashboard helps you quickly gather the following information:
- What's changed that's relevant to me?
- Are we going to meet our commitment?
- Do we need to adapt our plan?
- Who needs my help?
- What work items need my attention?
When you first log into Rally, you may have been asked to identify your role. Rally uses this information to set up a default dashboard for you. You can always add apps from other roles to your dashboard, and you can customize your dashboard at any time.
Customizing your dashboard includes the following:
Add apps to your dashboard
You can customize your dashboard by clicking the Customize Page drop-down menu. You then have the option to add an app or change the layout of the dashboard.
The dashboard is similar to a custom page with a few minor differences:
- You cannot create multiple dashboards, but you can create multiple custom pages.
- The dashboard is always located under the My Home tab, whereas custom pages may be place under any tab in Rally.
- You cannot copy a dashboard, but you can create multiple copies of a custom page.
- Custom pages may be private or shared with all users in a workspace.
Use the gear icon at the top of each app to adjust settings or remove the app:
Click on the the top blue bar of the app and drag the app into one of the columns. You can drag the app above or below any app that is currently in the column you are moving it to.
Each app has its own settings menu. Click the gear icon at the top of the app and select Edit Settings.
Use the Project section to select which projects to collect data from. The Follow Global Project Setting option will use the settings from the Project drop-down located in the upper-left corner of Rally.
The options present in the settings menu will vary based on the app. To view available settings and features for an app, click the name in the App Catalog listing below to navigate to the app's help page.
Click on the gear icon at the top of the app and select Delete App.

View custom code
The Custom HTML app is used to host custom app code. To view your custom source code for further editing and troubleshooting, click the gear icon at the top of a Custom HTML app and select View Source.
Adjust app height
To increase or decrease the vertical size of an app, click and drag the gripper icon at the bottom of of the pane:
Some apps, such as boards and custom apps, can automatically adjust the vertical space to display all visible data. To enable this setting, click the gear icon at the top of the app and select Edit Settings. In the app settings menu, check the Auto Height checkbox.
View an app full screen
You may run apps outside of the Rally application, allowing you to view the data full screen. To run an app outside of Rally, click the expand icon at the top of the app.
To exit full screen mode, click Exit or click the expand icon again.

You may view all apps on your dashboard without the Rally menus and navigation. To view a page full screen:

The Rally app catalog also contains customizable apps. You may install these apps to manipulate Rally data, use your own custom code, or access external web resources.
Install the Custom Grid app to sort and filter Rally data in a grid-based format:
The Query field in the app settings menu provides you with the ability to filter the data with SQL-style queries through the Rally Web Services API.
Install the Custom URL app to view external web resources or websites within a custom page:
Many of the charts that are available from the Reports Tab are also available as apps. You may add the same chart to your dashboard more than one time if you wish to view status for multiple teams separately.
