For Rally Enterprise and Unlimited Customers:

App SDK 1.28

The App SDK was updated twice, with versions 1.27 and 1.28. Both updates were to keep naming conventions in line with our Web Services API. No changes were made to code.

New version of REST API for .NET connector

Updated to v1.04. This version fixes a defect related to incorrect fetching of data past the first page of results.

New version of Excel Add-In connector

Updated to v1.04. This version fixes a defect related to incorrect fetching of data past the first page of results.

Estimation Board app enhancements

Re-ranking has been disabled on the Estimation Board app. Many users were experiencing ranking issues prior to this change. The app has also been updated to match the current look and feel of our other board-based apps.

For Rally Community, Enterprise and Unlimited Customers:

New Rally menus

Many exciting enhancements have been made to the menu system, including more vertical space, descriptive page titles, and easier custom page editing. Click here for more details.

New Rally Help site

Our new site technology enables better search functionality, action-driven menus, and opens the door for future enhancements. All links inside of the Rally tool have been changed to point to the new help site. Please update your browser bookmarks to http://www.rallydev.com/help.

Copy custom views

You may copy an existing custom view on summary pages, such as Plan>User Stories. Use this feature to quickly build several custom views that have similar filter criteria.

Direct URLs to shared custom views

When displaying a shared custom view, you may copy the URL from your browser's address bar and send it to other members of your subscription. These URLs may also be bookmarked for quick access to a shared custom view.

Bulk edit Parent field from Backlog page

You may edit the Parent field on multiple user stories in a single action, using the Backlog page. Note that you must know the FormattedID of the new parent story in order to assign it to multiple children.

Permissions respected when deleting user story hierarchies

When you attempt to delete a parent user story, Rally will scan all associated child stories and determine if you have the proper permissions to delete the hierarchy. If a child story is in a project that you do not have permissions to, a warning message will appear and the delete action will be canceled.

Search enhancements

Additional criteria may be used when searching in Rally. Queries with AND, OR, and ! (not) conditions are accepted. Multiple word queries without these conditions will continue to default to the AND type of searches.

Password reset enhancement

Multiple enhancements were made to password reset functionality:

  • Whenever a password is reset, either by a end user or administrator, any open sessions will be terminated
  • Messaging in reset email updated to include name of administrator who requests a reset
  • Requestor name and IP address listed in user revision history

Kanban Board app enhancements

New features are available with the Kanban Board app, including:

  • Exit policies may be displayed in each column
  • Status of associated defects may be displayed on cards
  • Clicking the task status message on a card takes users to the tasks page of the work item

New parent story chooser

The filter and search window that displays when assigning a parent to a user story has been upgraded with SOLR search technology.

Changes to the SOAP, REST, & JSON Web Service API

The Web Services API has been revised to version number 1.28. Click the Web Services API link from the main Help page to view your Web Services documentation.

Click the API Versioning link under Topics in the left navigation of the Web Services API documentation for details about version changes.

Hardware/Software Requirements

We at Rally are committed to making our software easily accessible. You can access Rally wherever you have an Internet connection via a PC, Linux, or Macintosh computer. Because this software is available through the World Wide Web, many of the constraints regarding which computer and software you use to access this material have been removed.

Nevertheless, it is not possible or practical for us to support fully every operating system and browser combination that is available. To take advantage of the newest Rally features, we recommend that you use one of the following fully supported browsers:

  • Firefox - 5.x
  • Chrome - 16.x
  • Safari - 5.x
  • Internet Explorer - 9.x

We recommend using the latest production-level versions of these browsers. Newer browser versions tend to perform better and have fewer bugs. In particular we strongly suggest using Firefox.

PDF Reader:

  • Minimum Adobe Reader 5.0 Microsoft Windows platforms (not Linux)
  • Adobe Reader 7.0 recommended

Monitor:

  • Minimum 1024 X 768 X 256-color video resolution, 1280 x 1024 recommended.

Known Issues in Release 2011.4

“Contains” is not supported in dashboard panel queries

The “contains” operator is not supported in custom grid dashboard panel queries.

Not all work items may be recovered from the Recycle Bin

Only user stories, defects, test cases and tasks are recoverable from the Recycle Bin.

Dragging test sets into the backlog on the Plan page

Dragging a test set from an iteration into the backlog on the Plan page will appear to make the test set disappear. The test set is still in Rally, but it has become unscheduled. To view the test set, go to the Iteration Status page and choose an iteration drop-down value of Unscheduled.

Popup blockers and Rally

Be aware that some of Rally’s content is displayed using popup windows. Popup blockers may inhibit this functionality. To correct this, configure your popup blockers to allow Rally popups.

Notifications using the conditions "owner changed-to/from" will not send against new Rally work items

If you create a notification rule with ownership changed conditions, and then change the ownership on a Rally work item that has never had an owner, a notification will not be sent.

User story list view displays incorrect summaries when parent stories are shown

Users who have both parent and child stories visible in the List (flat) view on the User Stories page will see summaries at the top of the list that combine parent and child estimates. We are considering fixing this by only showing child stories in this view, and would appreciate your feedback.

Iteration Defect Status printed report shows incorrect totals

The default settings for “Print Report” on Iteration Defect Status work correctly. However, if you deselect “show nested items” the report will indicate that all stories have “no defects”, even if some do. To work around this, make sure you keep “show nested items” checked when printing this report.

Custom Timesheet Reports will display "No Entry" where a custom field should be if Rally artifact is deleted

If you run a Custom Timesheet Report that includes deleted data, the output will include "No Entry" instead of a custom field name for any deleted work items.

Duplicate entries when editing custom fields

When editing a custom field, you may see multiple instances of the same value listed several times in the editor window. Note that this is not a database issue, and may have to do with browser rendering. Clearing your browser cache and cookies may resolve the display

Report drop-down selectors may show no entries if more than 200 iterations or releases exist

When viewing the Reports page, any charts that reference iteration or release data that have a drop-down selector may show no entries if the project scope has more than 200 iterations or releases. To resolve this issue, select a project scope that has fewer iterations or releases.
